Hi friends! Happy Monday! I wanted to share a few photos from my trip to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival on Friday. I don’t have class or TA responsibilities on Fridays, so I took advantage of the free day to cross another item off my bucket list :).
Amanda and I woke up at the crack of dawn to drive up to Mount Vernon. We stopped for breakfast at a tiny diner called Mr. T’s Family Cafe and it was the quintessential small town hangout. Seattle felt worlds away in the tiny cafe, but it was a fun change of scenery and the perfect way to start our adventure.
There are fields of tulips scattered around Skagit Valley, but we decided to stop at two of the main areas: RoozenGaarde and Tulip Town. I would recommend visiting Tulip Town first (it’s more touristy and family friendly) before heading over to RoozenGaarde.
I would also recommend arriving before 9AM because the parking lot filled up so quickly and the lines to get in were really long. Between the two areas, we only paid $11/person and parking was free. Score!
According to the very nice man working at the information office, peak bloom is for the next 7 days. So if you’re in the Seattle area and are considering visiting the tulips, try to get there this week! 🙂
I went a little snap-crazy with my camera, so enjoy the photos below!
And just to keep things real, here’s a candid that sums up me and Amanda:
- Have you been to a tulip festival before?
- Which photo above is your favorite?
- What was the best thing that happened over your weekend?
