[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ello and welcome to Nutrition Elevated! I have eagerly anticipated this day for weeks, and I cannot wait to share all that this brand can offer you.
For those of you familiar with my blog, Just a Pinch, you’ll know that for the last four years, I’ve electronically journaled my ongoing journey as an aspiring registered dietitian nutritionist. To everyone who has followed my path to this point, thank you so much for your support. I’m so happy to have you here!
I have grown tremendously – professionally and personally – in the last 15 months since moving to Seattle and starting my graduate program. Finishing our coursework in 2016, to start as full-time dietetic interns, opened up space to seriously reflect on where I hope to take my professional career post-graduation in August 2017. Prior to entering the program, I’ve had the pipe dream of owning my own business.
But the little voice in my head always responded: you will, eventually.
And then one day I woke up, and knew that I was ready.
I knew that I was ready to connect with clients and readers – to share the breadth of knowledge that I’ve accumulated from my diverse and rich experiences in graduate school. To give away everything I know, in the most authentic way possible.
It’s scary – putting your dreams into practice. There is a risk of failure, and a greater risk of reality falling short of my expectations. But there is also so much room for growth, connection, inspiration, and learning. I never, ever want fear to stop me from pursuing something that I am passionate about.
“Because so often when we say we’re unqualified for something, what we’re really saying is that we’re too scared to try it, not that we can’t do it.”
What is Nutrition Elevated?
Eating behaviors are complex, and providing dietary recommendations is only a small facet of nutrition education. My goal is to teach you about the next wave of nutrition research – the concepts that are covered far less by the media than the latest diet fads or cleanses.
I offer comprehensive wellness strategies that promote Health at Every Size, in which we celebrate body diversity, honor internal hunger cues, and forgive ourselves when our eating behaviors don’t match our expectations. I will share strategies to cope with the chronic stress and anxiety that do influence weight gain, hunger, mood, sleep, and depression.
And most of all, you will be part of a community that welcomes ALL people, shapes, and sizes.
What can Nutrition Elevated offer you?
Aspiring RD’s: I’m really excited to announce that I’m offering a 1:1 Application Coaching package for prospective students who would like more hands on help with their applications and navigating the world of becoming a registered dietitian. The package includes general guidance via in-person meetings, Skype, and/or emails, two rounds of edits on your admission essay, and a mock interview session. Two of my greatest strengths (per my professors and thesis committee!) are my writing and editing, and I would really love to apply those skills to help you submit a strong and competitive application to your dream program.
Clients: Currently, I am only offering personalized grocery store tours in the Seattle area. Each tour is 60 minutes, and can be done individually or in groups (no more than 3 people). The goal of this tour is to coach clients on finding and preparing fresh, budget-friendly foods. I’ll also teach clients how to identify sneaky ingredients on nutrition labels, and what kitchen staples will make it easier to meal prep for the week. The services I offer will continue to expand has I my experience grows.
In Spring/Summer 2017, I’ll be offering three free 6-week nutrition counseling slots in exchange for feedback and an honest review. Stay tuned for more details in upcoming months!
Collaborations: Partnerships, recipe development, product reviews, and guest posting…check it out!
