Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope you had a nice, holiday-spirit-filled weekend. Today, I’m so excited to share a few photos that my incredibly talented roommate captured of our adventure to Carnation Christmas Tree Farm. My roommates and I planned this outing months ago, and despite the fact that two of us should have been studying for finals…it was a complete success!
Many of my recent posts have centered around how busy and tired I am, so I’m trying to highlight snippets of my life outside of the hectic school sphere. Finding a balance between living my life, and living to study, is a challenge I’ve worked through for the last year. I now know that I need time and space away from cramming in order to feel fulfilled and ready to take on the workweek.
Meet Nora! ↑
On Sunday morning, we woke up and headed to Milstead (my absolute favorite coffee shop) to pick up peppermint mocha lattes before hitting the road. We spent the next 20 miles jamming out to christmas music and chatting away.
Equipped with a small saw and map, we headed into the aisles to find the perfect tree. We probably looked at over 20 trees before finally finding Nora. ♥
Here she is! Kaitlyn and I worked together to cut her down. It’s much more difficult than it looks! 🙂
We’re smiling because, well, the hard work hadn’t started yet…↑
Kaitlyn and I joked that cutting the tree down, and carrying it, was our workout for the day. I was seriously sweating by the time we finally cut through the stem!
Nora is a 7-8 foot noble fir, and she is absolutely stunning. However, she’s a feisty one (just like me 🙂 ) and covered with tons of little needles that destroyed my hands. I guess I could look at it like free acupuncture…?
In total, Nora cost us $48, which seems to be an excellent price for a giant tree these days. Our entire experience at Carnation Christmas Tree Farm was great, and I recommend it to anyone in the Seattle area!
To make things easier (?) we decided to put Nora IN the car, rather than on top of the car. I took a short video below ↓ of our view…remember there were THREE of us in the car 😉
Let’s chat:
- Did anyone else get a Christmas tree this weekend or do any holiday decorating?
- It’s snowed in Seattle yesterday! Any snow in your neck of the woods?
- Mulled wine…who’s tried it? I’m thinking I may need to make some soon!
So. Much. Fun!!!! ❤️❤️
Mulled wine is the best. You’ve got to make it.
I’ve made it once before, but it’s been years! I think I’m adding that to my list for the weekend 🙂
